Art Through the Ages

This week, we were set the task of researching six art movements, highlighting two key artists within each movement. The movements I’ll be discussing in today’s post are Futurism, Dada, Feminist Art, Minimalism, Conceptual Art, and Land/Earth Art.  Futurism Futurism was an Italian art movement founded in Milan in 1909 by the Italian poet Fillippo Tommaso Maarinette when he published a Manifesto of futurism on the front page of a Paris newspaper. Fillippo Tommaso Maarinette "Manifeste du Futurisme" 1909   The futurist movement was  most influential between 1909 and 1914 . It aimed to capture the energy of the modern world and  liberate Italy from the weight of its oppressive past.  Futurist painting  emphasized speed, youth, violence and the industrial city.
